Prudent investment in the school's facilities has provided the children with a wealth of opportunities. All teaching areas are bright and well equipped with interactive whiteboards and there are 100 networked computers across the site. Bright displays and creative resources make for a vibrant learning environment.
We have a large Library, a smaller reading area for the younger children and many departments have their own collections. Children are encouraged to extend their reading and a computerised library management system encourages the close tracking of books.
The Sports Hall is outstanding by many schools' standards and the Games pitches provide an idyllic setting for matches and Games lessons. The school's 1st XI cricket team plays at the Holmbury St Mary ground, overlooking the Surrey Hills.
The visual arts are taught in two large and very well equipped rooms and in Design Technology power tools are used by pupils under close supervision. For the younger children there is a designated Art and Craft room.
There are many opportunities for children to perform in dance, drama and music and to progress individually on a wide range of musical instruments. Children enjoy performing in our excellent Theatre.
The Dining Room has a light and airy atmosphere with bright tablecloths, and all food is cooked on site by our resident chef using many locally sourced and fresh ingredients. Staff sit with children during lunch which is served formally and not in canteen style.
Ropes courses, a swimming pool, mountain bikes, cross country and orienteering are all set within our 65 acre site, enabling us to take our learning out of the classroom and into our beautiful surroundings.
We are always pleased to play host to other schools and groups wishing to use our indoor or outdoor facilities. Please contact the School Bursar, Ms. Sarah Hall at shall@belmont-school.org or on 01306 737851.
