Little Belmont is the place where your child's journey of self-discovery begins. Here, in our caring and stimulating environment, confidence can be built, new friends made and learning achieved through play. Our friendly, approachable staff have extensive experience in young children's care and will ensure that all your child's needs are fulfilled.
We believe in spending as much of the day as possible outside using our nursery garden for imaginative play, the adventure playground for active fun and the adjoining wooded area for teddy bear picnics and discovering the wonders of nature. Play is child led but there is gentle encouragement to join in with structured tasks during the day covering all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
In addition to a variety of activities, our older children also learn French, Music, P.E., IT and have the opportunity to join weekly swimming lessons and ballet. For all children in Little Belmont, basic skills in speaking, listening, literacy and numeracy are achieved. Independence and self confidence are fostered and children are encouraged to be kind and considerate to others.
We welcome children from 8.30am until 3.30pm, Monday to Friday during term time. Our half day session runs from 8.30am - 12.30am and the whole day session continues to 3.30pm. All boys and girls who stay for school lunch are cared for under the careful supervision of our Early Years staff and enjoy a nutritious meal cooked on the premises.
A quiet time after lunch gives children the chance to lie down and listen to a story or perhaps enjoy a sleep if they need one. At playtime, the children can mix with older pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, and this helps them to master the adventure playground and inventing games in the woods.
We would recommend that children attend for a minimum of three sessions, building gradually towards full days by the second half of the Summer Term prior to entry into the Lower School. In this way, your son or daughter will be well prepared for full time school in our Reception class at Belmont.
