Outcomes for children are outstanding. They are likely to achieve or exceed the Early Learning Goals by the end of the EYFS. Children under three thrive in this warm, family atmosphere. They confidently make choices, try things for themselves and take responsibility for small tasks.
Providing we have space, boys and girls can join the Early Years from the term in which they reach their third birthday. There are three classes: Kindergarten, Pre-Reception and Reception.
This is where your child’s journey of discovery begins. In our caring and stimulating environment, confidence can be built, new friends made and learning achieved through play. Our friendly, approachable staff have extensive experience in the care of young children and will ensure that all your child's needs are fulfilled.
We believe in spending as much of the day as possible outside using our gardens for imaginative play, the adventure playground for active fun and the adjoining wooded area for teddy bear picnics and discovering the wonders of nature. Play is child led but there is gentle encouragement to join in with structured tasks during the day covering all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
In addition to a variety of activities, our older children also learn French, Music, Drama, Art, PE, and IT and have the opportunity to join weekly swimming and ballet lessons if they wish to. For all children in the Early Years, basic skills in speaking, listening, literacy and numeracy are achieved. Independence and self-confidence are fostered and children are encouraged to be kind and considerate to others.
A quiet time after lunch gives children the chance to lie down and to listen to a story or perhaps enjoy a sleep in our Quiet Room if needed. At playtime, children can play freely and we help them to master the adventure playground and to invent games in the woods.
We recommend that children attend for a minimum of three sessions, building gradually towards full days by the Trinity Term of the Pre-Reception class. In this way, your child will be well prepared when he or she moves on to our full time Reception class.
The school day begins at 8.30am and ends at 3.20pm with clubs for children from 3.20pm to 4.30pm. We also offer all pupils with the opportunity to join us from 7.30am for a cooked Chef’s breakfast in the main Dining Hall or to use our Extended Day Care, with an early supper in the Dining Hall and supervised activities until 6.20pm.
