Pupils enter the Senior Department at 11 years old either directly from the Prep Department or as an external entrant.
During the first two years, all pupils are set according to ability and follow the ISEB syllabi in the key subjects of Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, RS and a Modern Foreign Language. The curriculum in Years 7 and 8 enables pupils to lay down solid foundations for the Year 9 transition year, during which they make their GCSE subject choices with public examinations taken at the end of Year 11.
In addition to the academic subjects, all pupils choose options in the non-core subject, and all pupils enjoy Games and PE in addition to PSHE and Life Skills. Spanish may be chosen in Year 7 as an alternative to French for any new pupils who have not studied a language prior to entry whilst other pupils may choose to study two languages to GCSE level.
The first cohort of Year 9 pupils will be introduced from September 2020. We have a limited number of places available in Years 7 and 9 from 2020 and pupils should register for a Taster Day by contacting our Admissions Team. Early booking is advised.
