Why is Boarding such a good option?
One of the many attractions of boarding at Belmont is the opportunity to exchange a tedious journey to and from school for extra sleep in the morning and fun supervised activities and prep in the evenings. After lessons, there is an informal atmosphere as we recognise that our pupils must have relaxation time at the end of a busy day.
Boarding at Belmont is a popular, fun and an enriching experience. We have clear Boarding Objectives and Principles to which we subscribe. Please click here for more information.
Boarders are accepted from the age of 7 years. Many young pupils begin by boarding for one night a week and then build up to full weekly boarding as they mature.
The boarders are looked after by a team of dedicated residential staff lead by the Head of Boarding, Mr Matthew Codrington. Boys and girls sleep in small, bright single sex dormitories with spectacular views over the Surrey Downs. We want our boarders to feel cared for, to have fun, and to think of boarding as "home from home".
Observe some children playing tennis, some swimming, and others chatting, enjoying their tuck, playing pool or relaxing in a common room. In the woods a few are walking with the staff and their dogs. One or two seniors are phoning home on their mobiles, whilst others have gone to play in the Sports Hall... the activities go on and this is typical of an evening at Belmont.
For both Boarders and Day Boarders, prep is supervised by the academic staff in the evening, and pupils develop an independent and positive work ethic. Many parents testify to the fact that this adds significantly to their child's academic progress.
Boarding is popular, with good reason, but early booking is strongly recommended!
