During the year, there are also many trips and tours to a wide range of sporting, dramatic and musical events and to a variety of places of interest. Most of these opportunities are local and are an extension to the curriculum for all pupils, whilst other trips are voluntary and in recent years have included destinations such as America, France, Jersey, Iceland and Italy. At Belmont, we believe that trips and tours add breadth to the curriculum, allowing our pupils to apply their skills and knowledge to a range of first hand experiences.
As a boarding school, Belmont’s doors are open for long hours and we have an impressively wide range of daily clubs and activities on offer for day children, day boarders and boarders. Depending upon the nature of the activity and the age of the pupils involved, these may take place before or after school, or at lunchtimes.
While some clubs require a regular commitment, there are many that can be chosen on an ad hoc basis, allowing parents to choose whether or not their child stays after school and on which days, changing those choices week by week as necessity or as interest determines.
In the evenings, clubs run until 4.30pm for younger children from Early Years to Year 2 and until 5.45pm for pupils in Year 3 and above. Younger children may also stay to Fun Club, which runs until 5.45pm, so that they can be collected at the same time as their older siblings. Beyond this there are evening activities and opportunities for those who are involved in Extended Day Care (until 6.30pm), Day Boarding (until 8pm) or Boarding.
