Learning Support

Belmont is academically ambitious for every boy and girl and we have a proud record of academic success. Nevertheless, we recognise that some children are unable to release their full academic potential without flexible, creative, and individualised support.  With this positive and helpful approach, many intelligent children discover that they can make rapid progress at Belmont as our teaching and learning environment is creative, liberating and focused upon success.

At the same time, we also seek to identify those pupils who we believe may be simply underperforming because they are not being challenged sufficiently.  Many new pupils tell us that our creative and stimulating approach to learning opens up a new world of discovery for them, builds their confidence and renews their desire to learn.

The Academic Deputy Head, together with the Head of Learning Support, oversee pupils who may need extra help either individually or within the classroom environment, including those pupils who have been identified as Gifted and Talented.  The Learning Support Department will liaise closely with parents and teachers, to ensure that every pupil’s individual needs are being met including the use of resources such as laptops within the classroom, touch typing and multi-sensory approaches.  Our virtual learning platform enables parents to support their son or daughter’s learning at home.
