European Day of Languages

27 September 2019

The 26th of September is the European Day of Languages and here at Belmont, we celebrated with European cuisine.  The boys and girls enjoyed French croissants at break time and for lunch, they had Spanish paella followed by German Black Forest kirsch torte.

The European Day of Languages was established by the European Union and the Council of Europe to celebrate both the cultural and linguistic diversity within Europe and to encourage and promote language learning.

During their French lesson, Year 7 had an opportunity to appreciate the diversity of languages in Europe as they learnt about the different names of school rooms written in other languages such as Finnish, Czech, Danish, Portuguese and Polish.
