First Place in Fly at National Swimming Championships

18 June 2020

Congratulations to Roman in Year 5 who has qualified in first place for the U10 Fly at the IAPS National Swimming Championships.  Roman was just one of our swimming squad who would have made it through to the National Finals.  Five other swimmers and our U10 girls' medley relay team were also among the fastest 1500 swimmers to qualify.

IAPS organised 40 qualifying galas in the Spring Term, which featured more than 400 schools.  The finals would have been held at the London Aquatic Centre in June, but since it could not go ahead, the qualifying times have been published.  The fastest 20 swimmers from each individual race and relay team would have qualified for the National Finals and we are thrilled that six of our 20 swimmers that entered the competition and one of our relay times would have been there.  Here are the qualifiers' results:

  • Roman qualified 1st in the U10 25m Butterfly with a seed time of 16.03s
  • Connie qualified 3rd out of 150 swimmers in the U10 Breastroke
  • The U10 Girls Medley Relay team, featuring Anna, Connie, Emily and Lauren, qualified in 19th place with their best performance to date
  • Jemima qualified 10th in the U11 Backstroke
  • Eve qualified 10th in the U11 Butterfly
  • Alma qualified 19th in the U13 Backstroke
  • Olivia (Sk) qualified 11th in the U13 Butterfly

Congratulations to you all; we are thrilled with the results.
