We had a fantastic day at the London Aquatic Centre for the IAPS Swimming Finals on Saturday 11th June. Our girls really did us proud!
We started the afternoon with the relays and the U12 girls (Anna, Marnie, Connie and Emily) were all extremely nervous, but swam an amazing four second Personal Best in the Medley Relay and came 11th overall.
The Freestyle relay is always extremely competitive and our girls swam an incredible race, achieving another Personal Best coming fourth in their heat and 14th overall.
The girls should all be so proud of these results in such a high level event, particularly in the relays.
The individual races followed for Luella, Anna and Connie.
Luella swam a fantastic race in the 25m breaststroke and came third in her heat securing her place in the final.
Anna then swam the U12 50m back in an incredible Personal Best and only narrowly missed making a place in the final by a split of a second, coming 12th overall, which is an awesome achievement.
Connie swam a huge Personal Best in U12 50m breaststroke and won her heat, entering the final ranked first.
After a nervous wait Luella swam in her final and did Belmont proud coming sixth overall in a very close race.
Connie then entered her final and was determined to bring home the Gold and I am so pleased to say that she managed to hang on and win the race!
The girls were a real credit to the school and supported each other so well through nerves, some tears and lots of laughter. Well done girls!
