New Creative Options Added To The Curriculum

22 March 2023

We are delighted to announce that we are further expanding our curriculum for Years 7 and 8 in September.  The two new subjects are Textiles and Home Economics, and they will be taught as part of a Creative and Technological Carousel on a rotation basis over the two-year period.  The new subjects will complement the existing programme which offers Design Technology, Fine Art, Photography, Drama, ICT and Music.

Mrs Fellingham, Head of Art, will be teaching Textiles and says, “We are looking forward to expanding our creative range.  Our Year 5 and 6 girls recently enjoyed an Arty Party where they took part in a series of textile workshops to celebrate African fashion and culture. Activities included tie dye, embroidery, and screen printing and the feedback from the girls was extremely positive.  I am sure the addition of Textiles to the timetable will be well received.”

Mrs Skrine, Headmistress comments “The introduction of Textiles and Home Economics will be complemented by the new facilities in our latest development, The Aquileon Building.  Due for completion next term, The Aquileon Building will be home to a double-height Art studio, Performing Arts space for Drama and Dance along with classrooms for Photography and ICT.”
