Belmont pupils from Year 5-8 performed the jukebox musical “Return to the Forbidden Planet” to rave reviews. Since January, just over 30 students have been put through their paces: dancing 10 numbers, singing 36 songs and acting entirely using Shakespearean language. The show loosely follows the original B-Movie classic ‘Forbidden planet’ and parallels Shakespeare’s ‘Tempest’ (though borrows heavily from a range of the Bard's classics).
Parents, staff and pupils were treated to a visual extravaganza with stunningly bold costume and an excellent space ship set (made by other Year 7 and 8 pupils). The rock and roll soundtrack was used to full effect, played by staff from across the school, and by the end audiences were clapping along and dancing in the aisles.
