A Belmont education is one which many children would only dream about and there is little doubt that our environment is one of the great strengths that underpins the wholesome nature of our ethos and education. We offer outstanding Forest School activities not only to Belmont pupils but also to boys and girls from the surrounding area through our partnership with the Surrey Hills Adventure Company who operate from our site and who are qualified Forest School Practitioners and Adventure Leaders.
The Early Years children are outside as much as possible so that these youngest children in the Belmont family are able to benefit from their woodland environment on a daily basis.
We not only offer an extra-curricular programme of activities to all our pupils, but we also allow all pupils to benefit from their woodland environment throughout the school day both at playtime and as a part of their lessons. We believe that learning outdoors can enhance the educational experience for pupils of all ages.
Typical learning opportunities outside the timetabled lessons include looking after our hens, gardening, orienteering, cross country running, mountain biking, camp building, map reading, confidence course and long distance walking. We have learning areas in the woods where camp fires can be lit, survival skills learnt and independence fostered.
We are offering Early Years children who currently do not attend Belmont the opportunity to join us for a forest learning session. Children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Further information can be found on our Woodland Explorers page.
